Blepharoplasty is a minor surgical procedure designed to correct drooping or heavy eyelids to create a more youthful, rested appearance.
A detailed consultation with face etc medispa’s Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr Nicholas Rhodes is essential prior to undergoing any minor surgical procedure. During the consultation Mr Rhodes will discuss any problem areas, desired improvements, options available (including no treatment at all) and expected outcomes.
Should Blepharoplasty be agreed upon as the most suitable treatment, the procedure will be carried out in-clinic by Mr Rhodes in our CQC approved operating theatre. A local anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area to ensure the procedure is totally pain-free. An incision is then made in the natural skin crease, enabling excess skin and-where necessary- bulging fat and muscle to be delicately removed. A fine, single suture is then placed to carefully approximate the skin, with the whole procedure completed in around 45 minutes.
The sutures are removed one week post op, at which point the new eyelid shape is visible. At this stage patients should expect to see a fresher, more youthful eye area which in turn lifts the whole face. Scarring is as discreet as possible, with the surgical incision having been hidden, for most of it’s course, along the natural crease of the eyelid.
A local anaesthetic is placed across the treatment site to ensure the client’s total comfort for the duration of the procedure.
It is recommended that the day after surgery is treated as a rest day and advisable to refrain from exercise for 7-14 days post-procedure. With bruising likely for around one week post procedure, some patients prefer to take this time off work but this is entirely personal preference.
The upper lid Blepharoplasty is carried out in-clinic as a minor surgery under local anaesthetic. If an upper and lower Blepharoplasty is required, patients will require general anaesthesia and will be referred for treatment with Consultant Plastic Surgeon Mr Rhodes at one of the four private local hospitals at which he operates.

Contact lenses should be removed prior to arrival at the clinic.
