The secret to healthy, radiant skin

We would all like to know the secret to healthy, radiant skin. A daily home skincare routine helps, but advanced, professional procedures can achieve dramatic results and address a wide range of more complex skin, face and body concerns including wrinkles, acne, sagging skin and cellulite. And when advanced solutions are the order of the day, who better to turn to than regional and national leader in the field of non-surgical aesthetics, face etc… medispa on York’s Coppergate. Crowned ‘Best Clinic in the UK’ at the prestigious Aesthetic Awards 2012/13 and also in the running for the accolade of ‘Best Clinic in the North’ 2015, the three-storey clinic boasts 14 luxurious state-of-the-art treatment rooms, including four for aesthetics such as anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers, skin peels and IPL hair removal.

Specialising in anti-ageing procedures, the clinic’s expert team of nurses and aestheticians work to help clients look their best, smoothing and enhancing skin to create glowing complexions, boosting their body confidence and raising self-esteem. Other facial procedures offered at the clinic include radio-frequency skin-tightening, CACI non-surgical facelifts and medical micro-needling, with the team of specialists also routinely treating a variety of body concerns including cellulite, thread veins, stretch marks and scarring.

Priding itself on being a one-stop shop for mind, body and soul, the clinic even offers a range of therapeutic spa treatments, as well a wide variety of essential beauty treatments including lash extensions, manicures, pedicures and waxing. Face etc… medispa was the brainchild of clinic director Sharon Moore who, after working in the NHS in a variety of clinical specialities for more than 20 years, decided to combine her passion for beauty with her medical knowledge by joining a leading Harley Street cosmetic surgery company as an aesthetic nurse. Recognising the demand for a specialised advanced beauty clinic in Yorkshire, she brought her skills to York and now heads a 21-strong team, treating an average of 550 clients every week.

CONCERN #1
Cellulite, loose skin, excess fat
Solution: 3D-Lipo Med
Non-invasive and non-surgical, 3D-Lipo Med incorporates several clinically proven, advanced aesthetic technologies providing a powerful three-dimensional alternative to traditional liposuction. Utilising the system’s ultrasound, radiofrequency, vacuum skin rollering and cryolipolysis elements, our aestheticians can devise a tailor-made programme of sessions to tighten skin whilst slimming and sculpting the silhouette. From £1260 for a course of 8 treatments.

CONCERN #2
Dull, lacklustre skin
Solution: Diamond Microdermabrasion
Diamond Microdermabrasion is a crystal-free, advanced deep exfoliation treatment that uses micro-diamond wands to buff away dead cells, fine lines and blemishes, revealing a newly radiant complexion. The treatment is suitable for most skin types and a variety of common skin concerns. Using special rotational microdermabrasion wands containing natural diamond chips, Diamond Microdermabrasion polishes the surface of the skin, while dead skin and dirt are vacuumed away. Pores are unblocked and refined, with skin left glowing and radiant. From £50 per treatment

CONCERN #3
Excessive sweating
Solution: Toxin injections
Excessive production of sweat (hyperhidrosis) usually begins in either childhood or adolescence and is caused by an overactivity of one type of sweat gland, the eccrine gland. The condition can be treated quickly and effectively using an injectable protein called botulinum toxin which works to block the actions of the nerves that supply the eccrine glands and prevent their ability to produce sweat for several months. From £500 per treatment.

CONCERN #4
Pigmentation
Solution: Medical peels
The Perfect Peel is a revolutionary peel system that transforms ageing, dull, pigmented and scarred skin; revealing a brighter, healthier and more even complexion in just one week. Despite the powerful blend of active ingredients, The Perfect Peel can be used on all skin types and requires no pre-peel skin preparation. The process takes less than 15 minutes and is virtually pain-free. From £300 per treatment.

CONCERN #5
Scarring/stretch marks
Solution: Medical micro-needling
Medical micro-needling (also known as dermal rollering) is an increasingly popular, clinically proven form of collagen induction therapy and can be effective in the treatment of a wide range of skin conditions. It works by stimulating the body’s natural regeneration and repair mechanisms, penetrating into the dermis or mid dermis to enhance blood flow and encourage the production of new collagen cells. This enhances skin tone, texture, plumpness and radiance. From £175 per treatment.

CONCERN #6
Skin tags, warts and verrucas
Solution: Advanced electrolysis
Our highly trained aestheticians use advanced electrolysis to remove blemishes from the surface of the skin, cutting off the blood supply through cauterisation to treat skin tags, warts & verrucas of any size without anaesthetic. From £65 per treatment.

CONCERN #7
Unwanted body hair/ingrown hairs
Solution: IPL permanent hair reduction
Our permanent hair reduction system utilises the latest Intense Pulsed Light technology (IPL) to safely and effectively destroy hair follicles, providing a long term solution to unwanted, excess facial and body hair. The IPL hand piece is placed on the skin, releasing short pulses of light to target many hair follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area of skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. From £25* per treatment (a course of treatment is always necessary)

CONCERN #8
Fungal nail infections
Solution: Yag laser
Face etc… medispa’s fungal nail treatment system utilises the latest Yag Laser technology to safely and effectively provide a long-term solution to fungal nail infections and associated symptoms including discolouration and thickening of the nail. The system emits light which is readily absorbed by the water in the skin underneath and around the nail, in turn creating heat, destroying the dermatophytes and eliminating the infection. From £60* per treatment (a course of treatment is always necessary).

CONCERN #9
Unwanted tattoos
Solution: Laser tattoo removal
The expert team at face etc… medispa use a Q-switched laser to generate
short pulses of light to break down tattoo ink particles, breaking them down into smaller pieces, enabling your natural immune defences to absorb and disperse the ink. A gradual fading of the tattoo occurs over a series of treatments. Price per treatment from £60 (depending upon the size and density of the tattoo).

Prior to any treatment, the face etc… team will always conduct an in depth, complimentary consultation, to find the solution that’s best suited to your needs, skin type and condition. As well as helping you decide if you’d like to proceed with a particular service, it will also give you the opportunity to get answers to those burning questions you’ve always wanted to ask, so that whatever advanced aesthetic treatment you choose, you’ll go in to it feeling informed and totally relaxed in the expert hands of one of their medically qualified and experienced practitioners or highly skilled aesthetic therapists.

Thanks to the lovely people at Yorkshire Living for another brilliant double page feature on some of our most popular and effective advanced anti-ageing procedures; dermal filler cheek enhancement and anti-wrinkle injections. Model Jane’s gives a glowing report on her clinic experience and is over the moon with her subtly enhanced features. Read the full feature here…

What’s her secret?
Keep people guessing with the latest aesthetic procedures

Once upon a time, people seeking a more youthful appearance often chose radical makeovers. They might even have been flattered to be asked the name of their surgeon. But these days many of us considering enhancements would rather have people telling us how fresh, how rested, how well we’re looking, never guessing what our secret is.

That’s the effect York woman Jane King was looking for when she chose face etc… medispa for some subtle facial procedures.

Jane, who’s in property and married with a grown-up daughter, says: “I think everyone is trying to stay younger for longer. I’m 51 and I don’t want to look 30; I want to look good for my age. I could go down the facelift route, and I would never say never, but for now if I can ward off a year or two with this, that’s great.”

The face etc… team recommended a gentle package of treatments to highlight Jane’s pretty eyes and good bone structure.

As Sharon Moore, director, explained: “We wanted our advanced aesthetics to enhance Jane’s natural beauty. Our clients should look fresh-faced and rejuvenated, as opposed to looking like they have had ‘work’ done.”

Jane was treated by one of the clinic’s award-winning Nurse Independent Prescribers, Eve Bird, one of just nine finalists in the running for the Aesthetic Nurse of the Year title at the 2014 National Aesthetic Awards.

Jane’s treatment included three areas of anti-wrinkle injections to smooth forehead lines, lift brows and soften crows’ feet (£295) and a 1ml syringe of dermal filler Juvederm Voluma (£400) for cheek enhancement.

The anti-wrinkle injections use a purified protein toxin that smooths fine to moderate facial creases, lines and wrinkles. It’s a quick, minimally invasive procedure, with little to no downtime, the results of which generally last around three to four months. It’s the world’s favourite non-surgical treatment and has safely been used in mainstream medicine for decades.

Following an application of anaesthetic cream, the dermal filler was injected into Jane’s cheek area giving immediate results. Although this differs from person to person, Jane should expect the effect of the fillers to last around six to nine months.

Dermal fillers usually contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance broken down by the body over time. They are commonly used on the face, décolleté and hands to address creases, lines and wrinkles, as well as to restore lost volume and define lips, but Juvederm Voluma specifically targets cheeks and chins, restoring lost volume to those areas of the face.

“The treatment was genuinely pain-free” said Jane of the dermal filler. “I only had anaesthetic in the area they were going to inject with filler and I really couldn’t feel anything. I had a little bruise, but nothing that you couldn’t cover up with make-up for a few days.”

And the results?

“The anti-wrinkle treatment smoothed out the area under my eyes really, really nicely. It’s not stiff and I’ve still got movement when I smile. I also think the added volume in my cheeks has made me look noticeably younger and fresher.

“A couple of friends have said, ‘You’re looking really well’, and someone said, ‘Your skin looks lovely’. I think it’s just as if I am a bit more rested. I would have it done again!

“I think face etc…is lovely,” said Jane. “The whole team are very professional, very friendly. When you go in you are met and greeted by really nice girls on reception and immediately made to feel at ease.

“I have been back since for a manicure, and I would highly recommend them.”

Face etc… offers complimentary, obligation-free consultations on their full range of advanced face, body and skin treatments. To find out more, or to book a consultation with a member of their expert team, call or email face etc… medispa’s friendly front of house.

A brilliant double page feature on our revolutionary 3D-Skintech facial treatment in this months Yorkshire Living. Busy working Mum Lucy Stoakes visited the clinic to trial the treatment and was wowed by the results commenting, “I feel like I’ve got a brand new face”. Read on for Lucy’s full review and further details on this advanced rejuvenating treatment…

3D-Skintech- A new dimension in non-surgical technology

Feeling a bit jaded? Is the harsh British winter taking its toll on your skin, or do you feel the years are starting to catch up with you?

Lots of us know that depressing feeling, but tackling the signs of ageing may seem daunting. Some treatments can look frighteningly radical, others painful or time-consuming to recover from. Step forward York’s award-winning face etc… medispa and its exciting new treatment, 3D-Skintech.

Widely recognised as the ‘ultimate results-driven facial’ 3D-Skintech combines the most advanced aesthetic technologies available today. Non-invasive and non-surgical, 3D- Skintech uses several clinically proven, revolutionary systems to offer a joined-up approach to a variety of skin concerns.

The facial includes crystal-free diamond peel microdermabrasion, a deeply exfoliating system that gently removes dead skin and debris, revealing a brighter, clearer complexion. Radio frequency energy penetrates the skin layers, selectively heating the skin tissue and causing an immediate contraction of collagen fibres whilst accelerating the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. This promotes smoother, healthier and younger-looking skin.

Needle-free mesotherapy, another part of the 3D-Skintech programme, breaks through the resistant barriers of the skin, transporting high concentrations of topical products deep in to the dermis, hydrating and plumping; and LED phototherapy prompts skin fibroblasts to produce collagen and stimulates the body’s healing response to damaged cells.

A detailed consultation with an expert aesthetician is essential before undergoing any advanced, non-surgical treatment, to discuss problem areas, desired improvements, options available (including no treatment at all) and expected outcomes.

A course of eight facials lasting 90 minutes will optimise the results should your therapist decide 3D-Skintech is right for you. The facials may also be booked individually for a ‘one-off’ skin boost.

After the recommended course of treatment, clients can generally expect to see improvements such as tighter, plumper, lifted skin, with diminished signs of ageing, and/or a brighter, rejuvenated and more radiant complexion.

The 3D-Skintech treatment is painless and whilst it is not intended to be a relaxing facial, most clients find it comfortable and totally worthwhile thanks to the incredible results achieved. The 3D-Skintech treatment is non-surgical, non-invasive and painless, with no down-time.

The team at face etc… medispa is thrilled about the benefits of its latest technological advance. “face etc… medispa has always been renowned nationally as being at the forefront of clinically proven, cutting-edge technology- where we lead others follow!”, says director Sharon Moore. “Our 3D-Skintech facials have proven incredibly popular; combining four industry- leading aesthetic technologies within one revolutionary procedure, 3D-Skintech offers the perfect solution for time-poor clients seeking real results.”

Lucy Stoakes, a busy working mum, was a newcomer to facials when she agreed to a one-off trial facial using 3D-Skintech at face etc.

She freely admitted to feeling nervous but was fascinated to see if the treatment would be able to tackle some problem areas of her face – especially fine lines around her mouth.

She was put instantly at ease by her friendly therapist, Jenna, who talked her through her skin concerns and explained how the procedure would help. “She really knew the product and was extremely professional,” said Lucy.

Soft music was playing in the treatment room, helping Lucy to further relax as the treatment got under way. First came the microdermabrasion, a procedure which took away the dead skin from the surface of Lucy’s skin, followed by radio frequency energy, a treatment that heated up her face, working to remove old collagen and bring new collagen towards the surface. “It was like sunbathing in the Med,” she said. “Very relaxing and soothing.”

Next came needle-free mesotherapy, a procedure that Lucy described as tingling, like tiny electric shocks or the feeling of popping candy in the mouth, not exactly relaxing, but not uncomfortable.

Finally came LED phototherapy. During this procedure, a hydrating gel mask was placed over Lucy’s face with a hole around the mouth. She wore dark goggles as the treatment was administered by a lamp-like device.

After the treatment Lucy was allowed to relax and unwind until she felt ready to leave the clinic. The results? “I feel like I’ve got a brand new face!”, says Lucy. “I’ve really noticed the lines at the side of my mouth have reduced, and so has my husband.

“Things have kept improving in the days since I had it done. For a special occasion, like ahead of a wedding for example, I’d say this is definitely worth doing, and who knows what a course of treatment could achieve?”

Thanks to The Press for visiting the clinic and putting together this great article on our forthcoming refurbishment…

York clinic Face etc… medispa is to undergo an extensive refurbishment.

The business, based in Coppergate, has already refurbished its waiting and retail area and over the next year plans to update each of its treatment rooms.

The clinic, which offers a range of treatments such as massages, waxing, botox and laser tattoo and hair removal, also plans to redesign its website and develop a mobile website, with online booking, before-and-after photographs of treatments and video tutorials.

The clinic, which has been based in Coppergate for five years, was set up by company director Sharon Moore who, after working in the NHS for more than 20 years, decided to combine her passion for beauty with her medical knowledge by joining a leading Harley Street cosmetic surgery company as an aesthetic nurse.

Sharon quickly saw a strong demand for a specialised advanced beauty clinic in the Yorkshire area and following many months of consultation and research, in 2004 face etc… was born.

It started off in a small four-room premises in Bootham and relocated four years later to its current premises in Coppergate where there are 14 rooms with en-suite facilities including four for aesthetics such as wrinkle relaxers and fillers, skin peels and laser hair removal.

Sharon said continual investment in training the 12-strong team of aestheticians and beauticians in the latest advanced beauty technologies had ensured staff retention and helped the company win Best Clinic in The Aesthetic Awards 2012/13.

She said: “Reinvesting in our clinic is just one of the ways we continue to build on client experience adding extra sparkle and furthering our point of difference.

“With most people feeling the pinch we have had to think out of the box to ensure we are kept busy and have looked for innovative ways of engaging new and existing clients, including extensive use of social media.”
