Before I joined face etc…

Having qualified from Manchester Dental School in 1989, I spent the next 21 years working in Hospital and General practice. Following a career break to spend time with my growing family, it was with relish that I was given the opportunity to return to the workplace as the Business Development Manager at face etc…

What I love about my role…

Having always had an interest in aesthetic medicine, state of the art treatments and products, it was a dream job to be able to research new technologies in order to include them in our treatment menu.

My best kept beauty secret…

I would say that regular facials, Heliocare SPF50 daily moisturiser and Revitalash eyelash conditioner are the three main things that keep me looking and feeling fabulous!

My favourite things…

I love jazz, horses and blue French bulldogs. (And obviously a glass of wine).

Before I joined face etc…

I started my working career as a Junior Clerk at Barclays bank and worked my way up to the role of Regional Senior Management Assistant and Sales Campaign Organiser. Some years after leaving Barclays, I went on to work as a PA, an Accounts Administrator and an HR Facilities Manager.

What I love about my role…

After years of working in an office, I’d forgotten how much I loved a customer facing role! Being Clinic Manager at face etc… allows me to welcome and engage with our lovely clients and ensure every person who enters the clinic is made to feel special and indulged.

My best kept beauty secret…

My favourite face etc… treatment has to be the LVL lash lift which makes your natural lashes look amazing and gives you a bright-eyed freshness- even first thing in the morning!

My favourite things…

Designing jewellery, blustery winter walks along the beach with my dog, drinking Prosecco in the sun with my lovely friend Brigid and travelling abroad to take in new surroundings and trying new foods!

Before I joined face etc…

After completion of a BA Honours in Fashion Marketing and Communication, I spent several years working within the visual retail arena, alongside some of Britain’s favourite high street brands.

What I love about my role…

Responsible for managing the clinic’s internal and external marketing communications, PR, advertising and events certainly makes for a challenging and varied role! I love the creative freedom that comes with working within a thriving independent business- and that no two days are the same.

My best kept beauty secret…

Strong brows- whether tinted or pencilled, perfectly-groomed, well-defined brows make such a difference; accentuating your eyes and framing your face.

My favourite things…

Family and friends, eBay, Travel and Flea Markets

Before I joined face etc…

I finished secondary school in 2015 and I am currently studying English Literature at Newcastle University.

What I love about my role…

I have always had a passion for social media and being able to reach and engage so many people any time anywhere. Working at face etc… has given me the opportunity to put my interest in blogging and sharing to good use. I love being able to connect with all the amazing clients we have here at the clinic, it has been very rewarding so far!

My best kept beauty secret…

I keep my skin looking bright and clear by having regular facials. This, along with regular exfoliating and moisturising is my secret to having healthy looking skin.

My favourite things…

My favourite things are definitely watching films, writing, playing the piano and singing.

Before I joined face etc…

I was a hairdresser for 28 years and competed in several competitions including the L’oreal Colour Trophy. I obtained an NVQ in Customer Services and went on to run my own hairdressing business.

What I love about my role…

I enjoy one-to-one contact with clients and supporting the Therapists and Nurses to ensure their appointments run smoothly. I take great pride in maintaining the Reception area so that it is always a pleasant and relaxing environment for our clients to enjoy.

My best kept beauty secret…

Drink lots of water and always use a good sun screen. Try not to get stressed as this shows in your skin!

My favourite things…

My Husband and family, Hot Rod car shows, travel, meeting new people and living life to the full.

Before I joined face etc…

I completed my studies within Business Management and Tourism before going on to work within the hotel industry. From large corporate hotels through to small, independent boutique hotels, my experience within the sector was as varied as it was interesting!

What I love about my role…

I love to provide the very best customer service and meet new people every day. The face etc… team are great fun to work with and I’m really proud to work within such a beautiful clinic environment.

My best kept beauty secret…

Laughter 🙂

My favourite things…

Fitness challenges, snowboarding, running, the sun and colour.

Before I joined face etc…

My career began with my studying Graphic Design before moving on to work within a variety PA and HR roles. Prior to joining face etc… I had worked as a PA at Warburtons Bakery, an HR Advisor to Wakefield Council and an Admin Assistant at Next.

What I love about my role…

I really love my job and the variety of responsibilities that fall within my role; every day is different and the clinic is always a busy, happy place to be. We have such a diverse client base and so many regulars; it’s a fantastic reflection of our service that clients return time and time again.

My best kept beauty secret…

I believe our eyes are the first thing people notice about us and swear by DermaQuest’s fabulous Eyebrite daily eye cream to keep wrinkles and puffiness at bay.

My favourite things…

My 3 children and 2 cats, visiting Stately Homes and Gardens, ‘upcycling’ old furniture and collecting vintage clothing.

Before I joined face etc…

Prior to joining face etc… I worked at Barclays bank for 18 years where I joined as a junior clerk before taking on a variety of roles including Customer Service Assistant and Counter Manager.

What I love about my role…

Working in a great place with lovely people. I’m always busy and it’s great meeting the many lovely clients who visit us for treatments and pampering.

My best kept beauty secret…

I think our eyes are an amazing feature and am a big advocate of any treatment which subtly enhances them for maximum effect. LVL Lashes and Individual Lash Extension treatments are therefore two of my favourites.

My favourite things…

Outside of work I like spending time with my family. Walking our two dogs or riding our horses are also some of my favourite ways to spend free time.

Before I joined face etc…

After qualifying, I spent 2 years travelling the world and working as a Therapist on board Royal Caribbean Cruise Liners. In 2007 I returned to dry land and joined face etc… as a Therapist. Several years later, I have gained the knowledge and experience necessary to hold the position of Head Therapist.

What I love about my role…

My clients! And combining the most advanced technologies with ground-breaking products, to achieve the results and confidence my clients’ desire.

My best kept beauty secret…

A nice, bright lipstick always makes a statement and brightens a dull day!

My favourite things…

Working out at the gym and running, watching Criminal Minds and seeing my Dad’s rock band in concert.

Before I joined face etc…

I began my career as a Junior Therapist at Regis at the age of 16. It wasn’t long before I had worked my way up the company and developed a passion for all things skin.

What I love about my role…

Helping my amazing clients to achieve their beauty and skin aspirations and working within a team of fantastic Therapists, who have also become my best friends.

My best kept beauty secret…

Eyelash extensions! I’d be lost without them…

My favourite things…

Vintage finds, my amazing family and friends, drinking champagne, eating cheese and watching Doctor Who.

Before I joined face etc…

Once I had obtained an NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Beauty Therapy, my career in the beauty industry began at Champneys Health Farm, before I moved on to two other well known spas.

What I love about my role…

I love using my extensive experience to help clients overcome their skin concerns and ensuring that they leave me feeling their skin is plumped and rejuvenated.

My best kept beauty secret…

I love a healthy glow so I’m a little bit addicted to spray tans! I also love Resurfacers which keep my skin looking healthy and polished.

My favourite things…

Creating healthy but delicious food, exercising- especially running and going out for lovely meals with friends and family.

Before I joined face etc…

I joined face etc… in 2010, having qualified as a Beauty Therapist 3 years earlier. Since working at the clinic my experience and knowledge has grown immensely and I am proud to offer my clients some of the most advanced treatments available today.

What I love about my role…

I enjoy building relationships with new clients and look forward to treating my regular clients and ensuring they always leave the clinic happy. I love learning about innovative new treatments and products developing my skills.

My best kept beauty secret…

3D Lashes give instant WOW factor, widening the eyes and giving amazing definition; whether clients wish to achieve a natural look or serious ‘va-va-voom’, 3D Lash extensions can be tailored to create the perfect look!

My favourite things…

Shopping, eating out and spending time with friends.

Before I joined face etc…

I completed my Beauty NVQ level 2/3 in 2007 and began my beauty career working within a spa environment. In 2009 I joined the team at face etc… where I spent the next 5 years swotting up on all things skin. I left face etc… in the summer of 2014 to try my hand at care work but soon missed the lovely team, realised my niche was in beauty and returned to the clinic in 2015.

What I love about my role…

There is nothing more satisfying than using my expertise and knowledge to guide my clients on the treatments and products to help them achieve their beauty goals and the flawless skin they never thought possible. I love being a part of the face etc… team, working together, helping each other and ensuring the clinic is a friendly and lovely place to be.

My best kept beauty secret…

DermaQuest’s B5 Hydrating Serum gives instant hydration and is a product I couldn’t live without. I also have a monthly resurfacer treatment to help keep my skin clear, plumped, hydrated and smoothed- as well as maintaining a year-round glow.

My favourite things…

Spending time with family and friends and girly nights out dancing- I love to dance! I adore travelling to warmer climates, summer BBQ’s in the garden and attending festivals, but I also love winter time and getting snuggled up warm with a good film.

Before I joined face etc…

I joined face etc… straight after completing Level 2 and 3 Beauty Therapy at York College. Whilst training, I worked part time as a waitress and also took on work experience in a spa.

What I love about my role…

I love making my clients feel good about themselves and doing all I can to ensure they leave the clinic feeling relaxed, revitalised and happy. Nothing makes my job more worthwhile than my clients leaving with a smile on their face.

My best kept beauty secret…

A nice pink blusher can really brighten and lift a complexion, giving skin instant freshness.

My favourite things…

Family and friends, Hollyoaks and good Indian takeaway complete with poppadoms!

Before I joined face etc…

I spent 2 years training for NVQ Beauty Therapy levels 2 and 3 and once qualified I went on to work at a prestigious York spa. Much of my time at the spa was spent performing indulgent facials and body treatments which became both my passion and niche.

What I love about my role…

It’s great to be a part of such a friendly team, where everyone is focussed on maintaining and delivering the very highest standards of customer care. The wide variety of treatments offered at face etc… keeps my role interesting and challenging and ensures I continue to develop new skills.

My best kept beauty secret…

My favourite treatment has to be massage as I believe it can totally transform a person’s mood and reveal a happier, more balanced state of mind.

My favourite things…

Synchronised swimming, traveling and spending time with friends.

Before I joined face etc…

I joined face etc… in 2014, straight from the Yorkshire College of Beauty Therapy where I graduated with qualifications in ITEC, CIBTAC and CIDESCO- as well as the Student of the Year award.

What I love about my role…

I love being the person clients look forward to seeing for either their regular treatments or a special indulgent treat. It’s a wonderful feeling seeing my clients leave feeling happy and pampered with a spring in their step!

My best kept beauty secret…

Invest in your face! Your skin is so important and getting professional skincare advice can really make a huge difference in making the most of your skin.

My favourite things…

Make-up, Christmas, my little dog chuck and having a cuppa (or cocktail!) with my best friends

Before I joined face etc…

I worked full time within hospitality as part of the front of house team at a busy, family-run hotel. Whilst I really enjoyed the customer services aspect of my role, I had long since dreamed of a career in the beauty industry and took steps to make this a reality by studying for Levels 2 and 3 Beauty Therapy on an evening at York College.

What I love about my role…

I pride myself on being a ‘people person’ so I naturally love that my role enables me to meet so many interesting people and work together with them to help them feel great about themselves. I love to learn, so it’s very exciting for me to be working within such a high-profile, advanced clinic, where I know I will have the opportunity to build both my skill and knowledge as a Therapist.

My best kept beauty secret…

When people talk to you, your eyes are the first  thing they see- so I believe in making the most of them! I love eyelash extensions to widen the eye, combined with defined brows which work to frame the whole face.

My favourite things…

In my spare time I love to be outdoors and enjoy nothing more than taking my Pomeranian, Poppy, for lovely long walks. I also love spending time with my friends and going out for drinks.

Before I joined face etc…

I qualified in Level 2 Beauty Therapy before moving on to complete Level 3 in Spa Therapy. After qualifying I began my beauty career working as a Beauty Therapist in a salon outside of York, before jumping at the opportunity to join the highly regarded team at face etc…

What I love about my role…

Forming a bond with my clients and ensuring each person I treat feels they are both valued and in safe hands are priorities to me in my role. The team at face etc… is absolutely lovely, everyone is so friendly and helpful and have each been supportive in my development.

My best kept beauty secret…

It’s all about the eyes as far as I’m concerned so lovely long lashes and perfectly preened eyebrows are key.

My favourite things…

Spending time with family and friends… and shopping!

Before I joined face etc…

After graduating in Medicine I went on to specialise in Reconstructive and Plastic surgery, passing the Intercollegiate Speciality examination in Plastic Surgery in 2005, before being appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Bradford and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary in 2007.

What I love about my role…

I continue to perform Plastic Surgery at the Infirmary, specialising specifically in microsurgical reconstruction following cancer. Alongside this, I practise privately at Spire Elland Hospital, where my work is concerned with everything from facial cosmetic surgery, to body contouring surgery. Following mutual recommendation, face etc… Director Sharon invited me to consult her valued clients who were considering Cosmetic Surgery. I visit the clinic periodically to speak to interested parties within the friendly, familiar environment they know and love.

My best kept beauty secret…

Gosh, that would be telling! Ha ha!

My favourite things…

Spending time with family and friends, sharing good food and wine

Before I joined face etc…

I qualified as a midwife in 1996 and spent the early years of my career working between the UK and Saudi Arabia. My fascination with aesthetics developed when I became aware of the ageing of my own skin; I trained as an Aesthetic Nurse on Harley Street and was later head-hunted by face etc…

What I love about my role…

There’s nothing like witnessing the new found confidence and delight my clients experience following aesthetic procedures, whether I have smoothed lines, removed thread veins or sculpted a silhouette. And it’s great to do my work in such a prestigious clinic, alongside amazing colleagues.

My best kept beauty secret…

Use Retriderm; a total wonder product with decades of clinical data supporting its’ efficacy. It not only helps skin cell turnover and boosts collagen production to keep skin firm and youthful, but also has great anti-inflammatory effects making it great for acne prone skin too.

My favourite things…

Spending time with family and friends, travelling to new places around the world, mid-century furniture and design and last but by no means least Herbert, my Exotic Shorthair blue tabby cat.

Before I joined face etc…

I spent the first 10 years of my medical career working in A&E as a Senior Sister and Advanced Nurse Practitioner, before spending a further 3 years within these roles in a walk-in-centre environment. I went on to train as a Nurse Independent Prescriber, completing a BSc hons in Nursing and an Advancer Nurse Practitioner post graduate diploma, before studying at masters level. Since my extensive studies I have spent several years practising within aesthetics as a Nurse Independent Prescriber.

What I love about my role…

My role is all about making a difference to my clients, improving their overall confidence and self-esteem. It’s a wonderful feeling being able to resolve a particular issue or concern that has bothered a person for many years, particularly when they though this may never be possible.

My best kept beauty secret…

Botox treatment for peri-oral lines (around the mouth) is one of my favourite beauty secrets, achieving a natural ‘pout’ effect without the need for fillers.

My favourite things…

Spending time with my children and husband, seeing friends and running.

Before I joined face etc…

After graduating in medicine from the University of Cambridge, I went on to specialise in Dermatology at the Centre for Dermatology in Leeds. I was appointed a Consultant Dermatologist in York Hospital in 2012. I also practise privately at the Nuffield York Hospital.

What I love about my role…

As a new member to the team as face etc…, I’m looking forward to being able to share my clinical knowledge and experience with clients. I am happy to consult on all dermatological and skin-related problems, including hair and nails. My special interests are in acne, eczema and allergies, into which I have carried out research and have been published in peer-reviewed journals.

My best kept beauty secret…

A good moisturiser that is suited to your own particular skin needs, as well as a high factor sunscreen is the first step to maintaining healthy beautiful skin. Having a Plastic Surgeon as a husband also helps!

My favourite things…

Spending time with my husband and our two energetic children! And of course, Mulberry handbags…
